One Persons Trash is another Persons Treasure

In Australia we have a lot of charity organisations. These organisations accept all our unwanted goods that are still in good condition, such as clothes, linen, kitchenware, toys, electrical, home furnishings and decor.

Charity Bins

They are also a great place to shop for rare and sometimes valuable vintage and retro items. The added bonus is the money you spend helps the charity and you are being sustainable. Some examples of charity stores include St Vinnies, Salvation Army, The Smith Family, Red Cross, Lifeline, Anglicare and The Cat Protection Society of NSW.

You can find your nearest charity shop on this link:

Blow Up Your Life

For so long now I have been trying to get my hands on a 1960s inflatable terrarium footstool…. Finally I did, at the bargain price of $60 on Facebook! So many that I have seen on the internet go for around the price $250, so finding this one at a fantastic price and in such great condition, I jumped at the chance.

My new 60s Inflatable Terrarium Footstool

The vintage inflatable footstool dates from the 1960s and has unique, clear plastic sides to reveal fake grass, flowers and leaves. It has a vinyl top and wooden and metal legs. The blow up nozzle at the bottom keeps it inflated. I think it is a stand out piece! Unfortunately though, there doesn’t appear to be any opening to change or add to the flowers.

In the late 1960s there was an increasing trend with inflatable furniture. In 1968, designer Quasar Khanh created the first piece of inflatable furniture with an inflatable chair, which was a huge trend. The inflatable seats were on trend again in the late 1990s!

The inflatable furniture trend continued in the 1970s with even more choices.

More choices for inflatable furniture

The TV show Happy Days even had an episode where Marion changed all her furniture to inflatable furniture as it was the latest trend. However she soon put all her old furniture back as it was too hard to live with.

What do you think about inflatable furniture? Would it work in your house? Let me know your thoughts, I would love to hear. I love the retro look of the inflatable furniture but I think people are too rough in my household to use inflatable chairs. I am sure that they would always be deflated….

International Women’s Day

Women can do it

International Women’s Day is a celebration of…

  • Women
  • Girls
  • Anti-sexism
  • Anti- discrimination
  • Rights of females
  • Power of females
  • Friendships

The first Women’s Day was celebrated in New York on 28/02/1909, bit Ut was the International Women’s Conference in 1910, decided it should be celebrated on March 8th.

International Women’s Day

After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, it became a national holiday. The day was celebrated by the Socialist movement and Communist countries. It was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations.

International Women’s Day is about many issues:

  • Gender Equality
  • Equal Opportunities
  • Stopping Violence against Women
  • Equal Pay
  • Equal access to education
  • Empowering Women
  • Transforming Women’s Lives

Fighting for Women’s natural human rights should be the intention of every woman. All females should be united.

Summer Loving 💕

My family and I just enjoyed a two-week holiday down the south coast of NSW with two of our family friends. It was wonderful weather and we had the most fun time!

There is a lot of wildlife in the area we stay at, with many kangaroos, possums, ducks and native birds to interact with.

I also love shopping in the old town of Milton, especially my favourite shop, Nikky B’s which is full of vintage items & rockabilly clothes!

Also in Milton, there is a cute retro cafe which serves great food and has a fun atmosphere!

There is many other interesting areas close by to visit, including Ulladulla, Mollymook, Lake Conjola, Batemans Bay and Jervis Bay, to name a few.

We went shopping, swimming, bike riding, kayaking, boating, fishing, walking, sight seeing, a lot of eating and so much more… Although our holiday was jam-packed, it was still relaxing and fun.

It is a really good break to spend with your family and friends. I would recommend NSW’s South coast for a relaxing and fun filled family holiday. We can’t wait to go back!!

Where do you like to go for your holidays? I would love to hear about it.

New Year……New Beginning!

So when midnight came on Sunday 31st of December 2017, everyone will celebrate the start of a new year and all the exciting adventures waiting to be experienced!

New Year Celebrations

So each new year we make New Years resolutions that we don’t always keep. Well in 2017, I managed to achieve half of my resolutions, so in 2018 I plan to meet them all!  Do you make New Years Resolutions too? Do you manage to meet them all?

Vintage New Year

Our celebration traditions include my family and two other family friends, and each year we take it in turn to have a New Years Party. We all sleep over and continue the celebrations on New Years Day. This year we also have the double celebration with a family friend’s 18th birthday

My family & I ready for NYE party

There are endless opportunities and adventures to look forward to at the start of each new year. What will the New Year bring? What excitement, sadness, fun and happiness lies ahead?

New Year Celebration

New Year is celebrated at different times all over the world. But we all celebrate and bring on the new year with a countdown, fireworks, resolutions, kisses, well wishing, and singing traditional songs like ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

Midnight- New Year

Many countries have different traditions be it burning scarecrows, presents in children’s shoes, breaking dishes, decorating, parades, bonfires, eating grapes, fist fighting, drumming, baking a cake, dropping the New Years ball, and so many others….

Rockabilly New Year

Let’s hope this year is a fantastic year for all of us. There is peace, health and happiness for everyone. I hope we all meet our New Years Resolutions. I know I plan too!

Happy New Year

I’ll Tumble 4 Ya

I was so excited on Friday night, I had the opportunity to go see Culture Club in concert! Having grown up loving Culture Club, but never having the chance to go see them, I had always wanted to see them!!

Culture Club

Culture Club originally toured Australia in 1984 at the hype of their success. Unfortunately, I was too young to go. They toured again in 2016 but the timing wasn’t right for me. But this year I was finally able to see them. My daughter and I both went, at the ICC in Sydney.

On our way to see Culture Club – left: Lindy Bop dress, Hell Bunny bag & Hot Chocolate platform shoes – right: Revival cherry dress & vintage shoes, bag and beret

The support acts included the ’80s band Eurogliders…

The Eurogliders

Following were the Thompson Twins, who I absolutely adore, to perform. Although it only consisted of the singer, Tom Bailey and his new female backing group, they performed all the classic old hits!

Thompson Twins

Next was Culture Club! Boy George is a real showman! He performs excellently and in between songs he would engage the audience, giving background info on all the songs & joking a lot!

Tour Poster

They played a few new songs from their new album coming out soon, mixed with all the old favourites including Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, Victims, Karma Chameleon, Its a Miracle, Time and Church of The Poison Mind, as well as others.

Images at the concert

Boy George did 3 fabulous outfits for the night. He is such an original dresser with a funky style and always colour coordinated.. which I totally love!! He is equally as stylish and talented.

Three different outfit changes

As well as their own songs, Culture Club covered other hits like Prince’s Purple Rain and T Rex’s Bang a Gong. It was a fantastic show and you couldn’t help but sing along and dance!

Have you had the opportunity to see Culture Club? If you have, tell me what you thought. If you haven’t and your a fan, then it is a must to see them. You will LOVE it!!
