The first Women’s Day was celebrated in New York on 28/02/1909, bit Ut was the International Women’s Conference in 1910, decided it should be celebrated on March 8th.
After women gained suffrage in Soviet Russia in 1917, it became a national holiday. The day was celebrated by the Socialist movement and Communist countries. It was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations.
