Sultry Tina

Joseph Henry Lynch was born on 28th October 1911. He was a famous British artist, known on his artwork as J.H. Lynch. His artwork was popular in the 60s and 70s. The funny thing I found out while trying to locate information, was that his artwork used to be sold in a shop equivalent to the Australian Kmart department store. Today his artwork and copies of his artwork are still popular and sell for a high price!

His artwork was mass reproduced, which is probably why it was sold in a popular department store at the time. He died on 16th January 1989, and he destroyed a lot of his artwork prior to his death and donated what little was left to charity.

I have admired his artwork for some time. He paints sultry women, often half dressed with dark features. Some of his most famous artworks including Nymph, Autumn Leaves and Woodland Goddess.

Recently, reproductions of vintage art has emerged as a design idea for vintage or retro inspired homes. This has increased popularity with artists like J.H. Lynch. This is excellent for artists of yesteryear as it allows more and more people to recognise and appreciate famous artists and their artwork.

I finally purchased my first J.H. Lynch piece, from Nikki Bs in Milton, being Woodland Goddess. I just love it!
